Junior Activity Week

Level 2 Design

Course Outline
The primary aim of the course is to provide Year 12 students with the skills and knowledge to enable them to continue into Year 13 with confidence and a clear understanding of the principles of design and how these are applied to actual design situations.

During the year, students will be provided with specific design tasks that build on each other in a logical, sequential manner. These will begin with quite simple drawing tasks, progress on to introducing students to computing in design and then continue on to more complex problems that require greater computing skill and understanding of design.

Achievement Standards:
During terms one and part of term two we offer 2.2 and 2.3 as a combined internal
standard worth in total eight credits. These inform 2.4 (also known as 'folio boards') which is worth twelve credits and begins partway through term two.
2.4 is externally assessed and is due before exam leave halfway through term four.
Design as a subject finishes before exam study leave begins.
This year 2.5 may be offered (students can only receive these credits once, so they cannot sit for it in another art subject). We are working representatives from the local council to finalise details at this point in time. More information will be provided once it is all confirmed. This may mean internal dates change.

2.2 Use drawing methods to apply knowledge of conventions appropriate to design. Internal. 4 credits

2.3 Develop Ideas in a related series of drawings appropriate to established design practice.
Internal. 4 Credits

2.4 Produce a systematic body of work that shows understanding of art making conventions and ideas within design.
External. 4 Credits

2.5 Produce a resolved work that demonstrates control of skills appropriate to cultural conventions.
Internal, 4 Credits (Credits may only be attained in ONE art discipline)
