Uniform

School uniform is to be worn correctly on the way to school, at school, and on the way home from school. It should also be worn when students are representing the College away from school, eg. sports, cultural, educational trips or attending College functions.

  • The school uniform expectations are spelt out clearly in the Homework Diary. No sustained variation from that uniform will be tolerated. Students who purchase incorrect uniform items will not be able to wear them at College. This includes while travelling to and from school.
  • If, because of exceptional circumstances, a student is unable to be in correct uniform a note from parents/caregivers must be presented to Senior Management at the beginning of the day. The note must explain the reason the student is out of uniform and the length of time the student will be out of uniform. The student will be issued with a uniform pass if the note is acceptable.
  • If students do not have a note, they will be passed to a member of the Senior Management Team, where their parents/caregivers will be phoned to see whether correct uniform can be brought into school or whether the student can go home to change into correct uniform. If this is not possible the student will be given a uniform pass and a one hour detention.
  • If a student is wearing an item which can be confiscated (eg jacket or sweatshirt) it will be kept until the end of term unless the parent / caregiver is prepared to collect it from the College. Confiscated items should be labelled clearly and passed on to Senior Admin for storage.

In all cases the student's tutor will be informed of the action taken.

Year 13 Dress Code

Purpose
This dress code acknowledges that the clothes people choose to wear are an expression of their own identity.
Students, however, are expected to dress in manner suitable for an education environment.
Furthermore, we look to our Year 13 students as being role models, who set the tone for the younger students.

  • Guidelines
  • A suitable standard of dress is one that is smart but not necessarily formal.
  • The College rules on appearance (hair, makeup and jewellery) continue to be useful guidelines for Y 13.
  • Clothing should be clean and in good repair.
  • Singlets and tops with spaghetti/shoe string/ halter neck straps are not to be worn.
  • Bare midriffs are not acceptable. Tops must be long enough to cover the top of pants/skirts. While tops do not have to be tucked in, they must be long enough to be tucked in.
  • Low riding shorts, trousers and skirts are not acceptable. Boxer shorts should not be visible.
  • For females, the hem lines should be low enough, and the neckline of shirts/tops high enough that they do not reveal underwear. Plunging necklines are not acceptable.
  • Barefeet and rubber jandals are not to be worn. Shoes which enclose the toes must be worn in workshops, laboratories and practical foods rooms.
  • Other examples of clothing which should not be worn include beach wear, sports shorts, transparent clothing which reveals underwear, and any clothing advertising alcohol or with offensive messages.
  • No tattoos are to be visible unless Senior Management deem them acceptable.
  • Males must be clean-shaven.
  • Visible body-piercings (except for earrings) are not to be worn.

Where the College Management considers dress and appearance to be unsuitable, they reserve the right to send students home to change
