Lesson 4 Learning Objectives
​By the end of the lesson
-Students will be able to understand what Body Image is, and how it affects individuals differently.
-Students will be able to accept their own body Image by being more aware of media pressure.

​Unjumble the following words 
Complete the following questions

Body Image

Talk with the people around you and discuss what body image is.
Copy this picture or write it into your puberty document/presentation.
In your puberty document/presentation brainstorm things that influence body image. Below is an example to get you started.

Male vs Female Body Image
​Split the class into 2 groups male and female
Boys: Brainstorm what the media would have us believe is the perfect female shape


Females: Brainstorm what the media would have us believe is the perfect male shape

Discuss the answers as a class.
Media and Body Image

Brainstorm all the key points from the movie. This will help you answer the questions below...
Discuss the following questions and write down your answers in your puberty document/presentation.

What are the consequences of listening to the messages of the media in regards to body image?
What are some practical things teenagers can do so that they don't listen to the messages given to them by media?
How can we personally have a healthy body image?
Letter to the Editor
Write a letter to the editor of a fashion magazine or the producer of a TV show complaining about the images portrayed by the models and actors in their magazine/show. Point out the effects is has on young people and make some suggestions and how they could portray a more realistic image. 

Write your letter in your puberty document/presentation.
