Badminton Assessment

 

Overall grade The final judgement for Achievement, Merit and Excellence will be awarded as follows:

To gain Excellence: Excellence levels must be met in 2 parts and Merit in the other

To gain Merit: Merit levels must be met in 2 parts and Achieve in the other  

To gain Achieved: Achievement levels must be met in all 3 parts

Part 1 - Serve - 10 Attempts in total



Not Achieve =  
<3 successful attempts at the front mat
Achieve =4-5 
4+ successful attempts at the front mat only
Merit =
1 successful attempt at the back mat + 5 successful attempts at the front mat
Excellence =
3 successful attempts at the back mat + 5 successful attempts at the front mat

Part 2 - Rally


The rally you must hit the shuttle back on forth consecutively over the net to your partner. To gain an excellence you must hit the shuttle from behind the blue line in the new gym and the red line in the old gym.


Not Achieve =20 
Achieve =21-29 
Merit = 30-44 
Excellence = 45+ (from behind the blue line in the new gym & red line in the old gym)


 

Part 3 Logbook

·       For this task you will be required to keep a logbook for the duration of this badminton unit (9 weeks).

·       This logbook is to be your own creation and you are welcome to present it in any way that you wish. Throughout this unit I will be taken in your log books and providing you with feedback and guidance.

·       At the end of this unit you are to hand in your completed log book for assessment.

·       Your log book will be assessed on range of criteria and you will be expected to complete the recording tasks required by the log book, these tasks will be given to you at the beginning of the unit and at the end of particular lessons as homework tasks.

Your log book will include the following sections

An activity diary: To be completed after each lesson (See template)

Quick summary of what you did each day

An explanation of how you felt during and after the lesson

A quick statement explaining what parts of the lesson you liked and what parts you disliked

Hellison’s Social responsibility model progress entry

Your logbook will be assessed on the following criteria/Checklist

·       Presentation

·       All sections completed fully

·       Detail given in diary entries

Attempts to complete 5 or less of the badminton log book, and work demonstrates few characteristics of the checklist above.

Completes 6 logs; however work demonstrates only some of the characteristics of the check list above.

Clearly completes 8 logs. Work shows most of the characteristics of the check list above.

Clearly and comprehensively completes all 10 logs. Work demonstrates all of the characteristics of the check list above.
