In this topic you will look at the:

•Significance of pasture role in animal nutrition and the comparative advantage of New Zealand agriculture
•Pasture/crop production including establishment, harvesting, cash crops, timing, storage, Grazing and conservation.
•Management practices for the establishment of pasture/crop species/cultivar selection and selection of quality seed.
Interpretation of a purity and germination certificate
•Management practices used to maximise pasture/crop growth includes: Irrigation, Drainage, Liming, fertiliser application,
weed control, pest control and grazing management
•Management practices to maximise utilisation of forage crops includes: controlled grazing systems, conservation of variousforms of hay and silage and stock buying/selling policies
