Junior Activity Week
Genetic Variation and change covers -sources of variation within a gene pool
and - factors that cause changes to the allele frequency in a gene pool.
Keywords: Mutation, independent assortment, segregation, crossing over, monohybrid inheritance, co dominance, incomplete dominance, multiple alleles and lethal genes.  Dihybrid inheritance covers only complete dominance, the effect of crossing over and linked genes.  The processes of natural selection, migration and genetic drift are covered.
This achievement standard was particularly well done by students at Horowhenua College last year.  They understood the key terms and were able to write clear definitions.  Many students chose not to complete the other Achievement Standard on DNA which covered protein synthesis. I would encourage all students to attempt 91159 also as there is quite a bit of overlap in content.
